So, it seems you can't contribute to FOSS if you were born in the 'wrong' country. It's a horrific precedent for Linux. https://image.nostr.build/a1f2e8533cc81d24dae574fe7edc76143621984ffdae64328e75b18981503ebc.jpg https://www.phoronix.com/news/Russian-Linux-Maintainers-Drop
Man I find people are so harsh on Russian people. Its not easy to leave Russia even if you wanted to and to speak up against that government is making a death wish for you and your family. We all act tough and pretend that we would speak truth to power in a similar situation but we would all likely cowar in fear. Its important we distinguish the Russian government from the Russian people. And if any Russians do vocally support their government, yes then fuck those people.
Apparently, this is due to the Linux Foundation being based in the US and legal precedent set for the GPL. I believe most Bitcoin and Nostr projects don’t have this exposure, right? https://youtu.be/L5Ec5jrpLVk
It's sad, but really everything gets corrupted over time.
It doesnt need to be. It just needs more gatekeeping, one needs to be more toxic, and physically remove troublemakers such as socialists and democrats (by which i dont mean any party as americans tend to understand it, but anyone who believes in voting)
Dude, even the catholic church got corrupted and put a satanist as pope. If the church can't guard itself, how can programmers? Are we any better?
Im not really deeply steeped in catholic history so thats going to be a hard one to adress for me. But i do know we are set up in such a way that makes it easy, we can just fork things if need be.
