So the Orange Pill App is a closed-source, US-based company that wants your location so it can match you with other bitcoiners and nobody is asking if this is a honeypot?
You saying @matteopellegrini is a fed or just a target?
Serious question
I'm saying it seems in contrast to the ethos of the bitcoin community.

Also no mention if the contact between people on the app is even e2ee.

If I'm a totalitarian regime like the US, the app seems like a great way to curate a target list 🤷‍♂️
Unless people want to just know if there are bitcoiners nearby to connect with... Agreed that it might not be a great tool for plebs in some countries .

For sure... I get the idea. I just think there could be a FOSS version that doesn't compromise yourself.
Most Bitcoiners give a fuck about their privacy.

Else they would be in Monero.
 Monero Pill App wen?
‘Nobody is asking if this is a honeypot’ is an understatement; we receive this criticism daily.

A few points:

We don’t do KYC; most of our members are anonymous.
We only use approx geolocation ( 10-mile radius) and do not do background tracking.
We don’t run ads.
Open source is security theatre, unless you can verify the code the app is actually running you still have to trust the developer

Our goal is to build local Bitcoin communities and parallel economies all over the world
