I never understood why he surrendered himself. Did he honestly expect a different course of events? The world doesn't need more martyrs, it needs living freedom fighters. 

 He probably hoped that by being a just one martyr he could inspire far more freedom fighters. 

 Now the die is cast. I hope he didn't die in vain.
