Oddbean new post about login | logout Tried setting up the primal wallet but couldn't get past the kyc info. Of course I'm not going to put my real info, and it kept telling me "invalid name" and wouldn't let me proceed. How does it know if a name is invalid?

lol 🤣 I even tried a real sounding name in case it filtered for certain words, and it wouldn't let me use those either. I wonder if it tried to many times and triggered some kind of alert in the registration system? 🤷♂️🥲
Maybe. Or it may use a system to find the actual names and filter bogus ones. Those exist, and they do a quick background check 🐶🐾🫡
I wouldn't be surprised. Not their fault if they have to comply with regulations, but the fact that sending zaps on their iOS app is completely restricted to using their in-app wallet sucks. No NWC. Not even a wallet selector to let you zap using an external wallet app. So I basically can't use primal for zapping unless I dox myself to them it seems.

Yea I have a separate account I use for that. I set it up when they first launched v1 in the App Store. Interestingly I was able to setup a wallet with that account with no problem, also with fake info. Maybe they're more strict on that info or something now.

You sure it's not actually a bad error message? The more likely problem is a blocked email domain. I assume you use domain aliasing

I wouldn't think so. It's an old gmail account. The error that pops up says something like invalid name or name is not valid. Doesn't give any other info and then it kicks me out of the setup process.

Sounds like a technical issue. I can’t remember what I signed up with now but I know it wasn’t based on fact. With noticeable promotion from @jack I’m hoping it’s all to do with iOS App Store compliance rather than centralised database recording available to the highest bidder…

yes having the same issue trying to create a new wallet profile after buying sats on current is no longer working (was working since Feb 25th). I am thinking maybe it's a new account or regional restriction with Strike? Hope not.. But its being looked into by Primal team.🤞 People who have activated Primal wallets, are you able purchase sats through app/play store?
Decided to just try it (YOLO 🤣) and I was able to send sats to the wallet and also send them back out. But it wouldn't let me zap individual notes. When I try it still says I need to activate. So I went back to look and I actually did use an email to activate the wallet. But I only received one email with an activation code (probably for spam prevention). I don’t remember putting in any other info; if I did then it must have been fake. Primal seems to have been dealing with bugs lately and I think that might be why, just try again later.
