"The lottery is a tax on people who are bad at math."

Here on average it pays 85c for every $1 put in.

Better idea - you could buy a bitcoin mining rig and "solo mine". Probably will just lose electricity, but you'd be helping to secure the whole blockchain, and if your miner finds the block first you win big!

(You can do this with the computer you have already if you use Xmrig. You'll need to convert XMR back into Bitcoin if you win, but that's no problem)
I am down to go down this rabbit hole. What exactly would I be looking to purchase? Also, I didn't really understand the last few things you said but I am guessing I will get it once I am in the process of learning to do it.

nostr:nprofile1qqsz7543nls5prmfac8fp8kcljkp8rzlxuxqth3y7rvrwzk6096jxgcpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsz9nhwden5te0dehhxarjv4kxjar9wvhx7un89uq3zamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3wwa5kuef09fhmrc, minerstat.com has data on all the different models, you can test different scenarios.

Re my last paragraph, nostr:nprofile1qqsyawyrzrttfmv4cmtx5w2m85702kdct7hv3amfrkhagpdf9cz46mgprpmhxue69uhkv6tvw3jhytnwdaehgu3wwa5kuef0qyghwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnhd9hx2tcpydmhxue69uhkv6tvw3jhytnwdaehgu3wwa5kuef08ankcmmzv9kr6ctvds20l3q3 and I mine XMR with normal conputers, and convert the proceeds to Bitcoin. It means I don't have to spend additional money on mining hardware, but instead I have to put up with bitcoin maxis on Nostr dissing me :p
So my current lap top would be the only thing I need to do what you and @Ava do?
 Yes :)

You'll need a program called "xmrig", and an XMR (Monero) wallet for the payout to go to before you convert it to bitcoin.

Is your laptop running Windows?
 Not windows nope.
 Sweet
 Oh does that work? Apple?
 There's a MacOS version here - https://xmrig.com/docs/miner/build/macos

You probably want the "binary releases" page.
I think I have to first prepare my lap top. Just got an external drive and gotta do some clean up. Then will check this out though I am afraid it might be a bit over my head technically.
