I’ve restricted my use of Twitter to only when Im in my wee office on work mode.
I removed the app of my phone maybe 3 weeks ago now.
As someone who’s been a newshound for years it’s pretty challenging. Twitter is the ultimate source for breaking news but all things considered it’s an emotional pit and a time sink.
I do feel out of the loop but I also feel more peaceful and have to put things in perspective: “Who cares about this trivial bs, it’s utterly inconsequential to me.”
I missed the Trump assassination attempt. I had my phone turned off on Saturday night and learned about it through CONVERSATION with a friend on the Sunday afternoon.
What is this, the 1990s?
Jokes aside, given that my mind is slowly disconnecting from global and foreign concepts I’ve ended up noticing the little things locally a lot more.
That’s been nice.

I completely relate to this. I also deleted Twitter on July 5th and haven’t looked back since. While I do feel slightly ‘underinformed,’ it’s definitely a relief to avoid 99% of the X nonsense.
It’s a true blessing to be here on #nostr. Good vibes only, no #FUD. #Nostriches are the kind of people I want to surround myself with, not those crypto boys and bots 🤣.

They ditch centralized platforms that can be censored and stuff and go to open protocols that nobody controls

Well put, its a sign of personal growth to realise you don't need that PoS news cycle garbage in your life to mess with your brains reward system.
as a professional like you however, there are other considerations to make as well. there is still a great dependency on these centralized platforms.
Posting first on Nostr helps and putting the most interesting stuff here helps pulling people in
but reducing media intake overall is very healthy and not old fashioned at all.
Man, I salute you 🤝🏼 ... because I did exactly the same thing for exactly the same reason. The only social media app on my phone now is a Nostr one and that so far feels right.
I saw about the trump shooting on Nostr. Nostr also beat twitter in discovering $25 Bitkeys by Block.
Still hoping that they honor my order, we're not sure if it was a deal or a bug in the system. 🤞

The weight that was lifted when I deleted Twitter was amazing. So much negativity over there it was affecting my outlook on the world without me even knowing. There is a certain level of peace you get knowing if you miss something then life goes on. If it is important enough you’ll hear about it later. Otherwise it was just noise!

Sounds like a very positive move. I once had the luxury of foregoing all media sources for a couple of years and when I returned it was mind boggling clear how bonkers it all is.
TV has moved to mobile devices. What you may have seen on a TV at a local bar/diner is a thing of the past.

Yeah I feel this. I've tried to moderate to just nights or something, but I usually end up getting sucked in. Its the worst when you get sucked into internet politics or drama, waste of energy.
the problem is that it values early, highly emotional replies.
Ditched Twit in 2017. Was a little flat until I found #nostr but I never wanted back into the stink of $%!#r once I got it off of me. The defumigation isn’t fun.

Honestly, I try to limit my exposure to Twitter and I've noticed that I get tired very quickly. Probably because I've been off it for so long. It's like taking a sip from a bunch of soap operas mixed into a toxic cocktail.
