@5b00f2ed @cb72bb0c .. any big game examples that prove #Godot has competed with the other big engines? I watched the 2022 demo reel and not too impressed. Is that just the “clientele”, or a limitation in the platform? Clearly enough horsepower for indies, especially 2D, just wondering about AAA 3D quality/performance. I’m going to give this a shot and definitely prefer this FOSS offering if it can keep up.
@0d5abd63 @5b00f2ed @cb72bb0c Sonic Colors Ultimate was apparently made in Godot. That's the biggest title I'm aware of. But yeah I think with Unity dominating the market especially in the indie space, it's meant that Godot hasn't shined as much, but with it's latest update to v4 it looks very very capable.
@838d1c5d @5b00f2ed @cb72bb0c .. cool. Let’s hope we start to see some more big showcase titles to encourage more adoption!
@0d5abd63 @5b00f2ed @cb72bb0c 100%. I imagine with the whole Unity debacle we'll be bound to see more over the coming year or two as indies make a switch to engines like Godot and others.
@838d1c5d @5b00f2ed @cb72bb0c . Btw . I was excited last year when #Unity put together an internal team to build a flagship showcase game to launch in store (Like Epic has Fortnite). And then they fired that team :( .. maybe #Godot could rally a community effort like that? @cb72bb0c , I could be persuaded to help if there’s any interest :) let me know if you’d like to discuss.
@0d5abd63 @5b00f2ed @cb72bb0c I imagine since it's opensource it's kind of already designed by people making games with it? I think I remember hearing that the developers are often pulling in updates that are being created by game studios that were useful to their game's dev pipelines. Which is very encouraging to hear. The pro of being opensource.
