We certainly have a cult-like nature so that’s fair. Nostr’s reputation also comes from idk where. Mastodon certainly gets more press coverage, which isn’t saying much. People want the next xitter etc., but that will probably not exist imo because I see the net splitting off into smaller communities based on special interests. Nostr itself will likely find a way to do that someday. Nostr is flexible and can become whatever we want it to be. Hard to imagine where it will be in 5 years. But mastodon will still just be…servers? How will it look in 2029? How will podcasting 2.0 look? What’s the next Gen of that? I think there can and will be a nostr component, but I think most things can have that if users demand it. I’ve still not logged into the pod 2.0 mastodon… I never got into mastodon though I did try it. Two years ago when Elon bought and began killing the bird app I started trying many of the xitter alts. And I watched as each—all VC-backed companies—died out. As long as we keep these things “by the people, for the people,” they can survive Silicon Valley 🤙
