showing my age...

... IMHO, "the internet" is the epitome of "high tech" and should be (have been?) the foundation for a truly great awakening.

It may be too early to know whether the internet is a net plus or minus.

Today, the most high tech thing affecting us all, whether we participated in the vax or not, is

CRISPR - "high technology" at its most current state, editing genes as easily as a Word* document.

*Which is not for the fainthearted, BTW.
@d46cf433 @3a92a9b1 The Internet (cheap, ubiquitous global electronic communications) is a massive lever, capable of moving the world. Anyone can grab it at any time. It can move the Earth to a better place or flip it into the Sun.

I'm reminded of Moriarty in the STNG episode "Elementary, Dear Data," who constructs a device that will destablize the Enterprise. Moriarty has no idea that what he's doing will kill everyone. Then in season 6 tricks the crew into giving him control.
