What a beautiful question to ask & such an awesome array of thoughtful responses to digest.
My most recent epiphany came when I took a break from the fiat mines last July.
The first thing I realised was that I didn't need as much fiat as I thought I did to live a fulfilling life. I think this is something many older people realise when they retire.
I got all my time back, so I didn't need to outsource everything in my life for the sake of time/convenience. I didn't have a gaping hole in my soul left by fiat mining to fill with trinkets & shiny things. I didn't have to buy fancy shirts & suits to impress corporate wankers who were too caught up in themselves to notice anyway.
I also finally became comfortable with the Bitcoin I'd stacked after 3½ years of feeling very late to the party. I figured that if Bitcoin is going where I think it's going, I'll be alright. If it doesn't go where I think it will, then at least I'll buy a couple of years of my time back.
