yes a lot of the "information wants to be free" generation of tech bros hate bitcoin, because it's artificial scarcity and their idea of internet infrastructure and content is that it should be provided for free, an expectation that in part is what got us the ad- and spyware-riddled mess of the modern internet
Fiat money is also used to scam people, right left and center. But I can also buy food with it. The perception and reality of Bitcoin is that other than crypto bro scammers, it has no use.

That report was delayed in handling by the US because of a long weekend. I agree it shouldn't be political but the reason many Bitcoiners are right wing is because the left is obsessed with blaming capitalism, billionaires and private property instead of the real issues (fractional reserve banking, fiat, too much power in the federal government, etc). The left wants communism/socialism because they think hard money, freedom and small government are problems rather than the solution. If they could at least rally behind the *actual* problems to the economic ills, Bitcoin wouldn't need to be seen as political. At the same time, together, we'd be a force to be reckoned with because we'd be united while the elite want us divided.

Hard to change people. It is easier to lie to people, than to convince people they were lied to. I think it is connected mainly to ignorance. They don't really care about having a based opinion, and go after things if they are really true. Easier to outsource it.

The lack of nostr users talking about the pandemic doesn't help. I think most people are mentally done with it and just want to move on.
Then you'd have to organize for a future where it can be defeated and moved on from, and in the nearer term, it's essential to organize against the underlying causes of it to avoid a different future where we all die with no dignity
I’ve been trying to express this since I got on this platform. Maybe people will listen when one of their superheroes says it. The more NOSTR and BTC acts like a closed community, that is not friendly to outsiders. The less likely it succeeds.

I think the most common obstacle I run into is a lack of patience and discipline, not a lack of understanding. They know bitcoin will go up forever, but they're just not willing to wait. They seek immediate short term pleasure over lasting relief. Second to that is probably fear due to misunderstanding. They only know enough to be afraid of what they think it is, and are not willing to put in the work to understand it deeper.

the big problem, imho, is the illusion that bitcoin will fix something in the system. it won't. at best, it will become part of the system. it already has. the illusion now is that the future will be libertarian. it won't. not in society. we're heading towards a dystopia and unfortunately bitcoin is already part of that, it was the gateway to cbdc's. most of us will be swallowed up and bow down. nostr may be part of the solution. but as long as the illusion of an unbanked society is sold instead of rescuing the utopia of a self-sufficient citadel, a model of resistance against the status quo, like what has been happening in Myanmar, nothing will change.
I hope you end up being wrong, but my instinct tells me you are right. But most of this community refuses to consider these kinds of things, which I think is a mistake. Blind optimism has never been and never will be a beneficial way to view anything.

Bitcoin has become important enough for politicians to pay attention. I think it’s important to shape how Bitcoin settles into the political discourse and not about preventing its entrance.
