It's been 24 years now, and I've heard a lot of rock songs and watched their videos, but I'm not sure that any of them hit me harder than Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down in 2000 when I was 12 years old.

It doesn't even touch most of my favorite sub-tropes, but it touches on the broadest tropes of heroism and valor, and very well done.

I was reminded of it due to coming across a cover from several years ago:

If I have to pick an all-time favorite band, I'd say Linkin Park.

If I have to pick an all-time favorite song and video, back when music videos were more of a thing, I might have to say Kryptonite. Something about it hits really deep. It's about like, undesired heroism. The most raw form of heroism. It's probably the key song that got me into rock when I was 12 and it's still great.

Just saw 3DD a couple of weeks ago in Florida opening for (coincidentally) Creed. They were as good as ever.
Maybe they can take us higher.
 Nothing stops this…

 hi
I saw them in concert in 2000. That year 3 doors down was the opener for Sevendust and Creed, the following year they were opening for 3 Doors… now I feel old
This is very interesting. I'm a bit older and I remember wondering why they played that so much on the radio. It was probably an anthem for a whole generation.
 Awesome song.
The album Blue by Third eye blind,

Hits me in the childhood.
I love the driving beat of Fools Shine On by Brother Cain
This one made my day, wild times 😁
 Great post @LynAlden

Feel exactly the same with this...times when freedom was possible

Love Three Doors Down and Linkin Park.

Lately been vibing to Away From The Sun. If you think of the sun as truth/bitcoin, you can feel the regret of addiction to fiat.
It’s pretty good. I’ll give it another listen soon then 👍
I couldn’t agree any harder!!! We share very similar music tastes. And keep posting new stuff you find or what you like at the moment because they always hit!! Also I can’t stop listening to “The Emptiness Machibe” and will not miss them in concert this go round.
Your note got me thinking about my story. My earliest music memories are of my mom playing ABBA and The Carpenters when I was very young. She would put on a record while doing house work. Karen Carpenters voice gives me chills to this day. The first album that made a big impression on me was Gun’s ‘n Roses Appetite for Destruction. A friend gave me a copy on a cassette and I thought it was pretty crap the first time I listened to it. I took it with me on holiday and listened to it over and over. Slowly the rhythm seeped into me and it became a favorite. But I can tell you exactly where I was standing when I heard Smells like Teen Spirit for the first time. It’s still so clear and I can smell the room I was standing in. It took me a week to find out who the artist was (the good old days of broadcast radio). I’ve never been a lyric guy, it’s the whole sound that I love and the voice is the lead instrument, not the words. I can never pick out a favorite artist or song - there are just too many styles and flavors to choose just one. That’s the beauty of music - it’s the universal language - the language of the soul
The end of LP is very disturbing/interesting/sad. Incredible band.
 Incredibledrumming!
