 it might be Tor is censored in your region. That's why you can't connect.

I get why this would work for large groups but for DMs, I don't get how messages don't get lost without a server/relay somewhere.

 Quiet looks super interesting, it's like Discord/Slack but actually decentralized/P2P. Messages and content are synced between devices using IPFS/OrbitDB and connects made through Tor.
