I studied German in high school and took an immersive course in Japanese many years ago. It was interesting when studying Japanese that if I couldn’t remember a word, I’d often get the German equivalent, even though I hadn’t studied that language for almost a decade at that point. Poking the same area of the brain I guess. 🇩🇪🇯🇵 

 Interesting. Japanese must be quite a challenge. I also studied German + Spanish in school but much of it has evaporated due to neglect so I am trying to recapture some of it. It is absolutely easier once the path has been trodden before. 

 Yes, 3 written languages for Japanese, though 2 share the same phonetics. At least the verb is at the end of the sentence like German. 👍
