It seems to piggyback on every update. The request for funding is in the notification area. It only appears until you boost or x out of it. No pressure but an easy way to boast the developers. 

I'm not sure of any other apps do this. It not it could be an excellent option to do that thing which we all fear, ask for money.

 Corracle has an unobtrusive request for funds and a zap split function.  Both make sense.
