Need some advice, in regards to taking my #bitcoin security to the next level.
Ive been sitting on my hands for a while, and now think it's time to start running my own node.
Ive looked at start9, umbrel and parmanode as solid options for plug and play. Any others I should consider? Care to share your experiences with any of these devices?
I'm a complete noob when it comes to the technical side, so any help would be much appreciated

Start9 seems to be the best option that I've seen or heard. Very well respected in the bitcoin industry.
The "88SATS" code will save you about $60 off. Buy extra some sats with it 😎
Imo the two main goals of running your own node are just not trusting someone else to relay to you what the status of the blockchain is and to protect your own data if you want to check/broadcast a transaction. In that case you can run a node on any old device so long as you trust the device. It will (hopefully) never have your private keys on it so it doesn’t need to be special or expensive. You could always install start9 os on an old laptop too. I’m not expert just sharing my thoughts.
The main goal is decentralization my friend :) the more node running the chain we all agree to participate the less options Black Ro ks have to change the rules.
Alby is an option and even if you're total noob in technicalities, they are doin an amazing job with how to tutorials. If you know how to copy/paste, you can set up your node way cheaper then plug and play options.
