it's been a while i've seen so much enthusiasm in developing something, that's not driven by corporate tech marketing for once (eg like "AI" or "VR")

also the atmosphere is so different here than on X, where it's constant (justified) complaining about how things are going downhill, but no one can really do anything about it, it's hard to not get stuck in that sentiment

i think that's a rarely mentioned advantage of decentralization of communication platforms, it's not all about censorship resistance or privacy, but that things can be changed without being dependent on some distant central entity that may have a completely different agenda
