Well, no thanks whatsoever to NHS Scotland's NHSInform website for obfuscating the fact that everyone with diabetes is eligible for a COVID booster this autumn! It's certainly not mentioned in the workflow when you go to book a flu shot, and diabetics are probably the largest single group of people who are "at risk" ... (Flu shot appointment for tomorrow now cancelled and replaced with combined flu & covid shots next week.
@0c1a9324 what's the NHS advisory for Covid shots now? In Singapore we're still at four shots (2 full + 2 boosters) with a further booster for those 60+.
@0c1a9324 In England it seems to be being handled by your GP practice - I had my flu shot booked and got a text a couple of weeks ago saying that I would be offered a covid booster at the same time, but my MiL, who is with a different practice in the same village, hasn't.
@0c1a9324 - it's indeed obfuscated. I went to the website and chose a combo flu / COVID booster shot on the basis of preexisting conditions (type II diabetes), but my appointments reminders only mentioned the flu vaccine and only when getting the actual shots was it clear that I'd be able to get a COVID booster. The doc there was easily persuaded that I needed one.
@0c1a9324 NHS England also didn't make it particularly clear, but booked for the COVID jab on Friday once I realised that my newly diagnosed diabetes qualified me for it I'm booked for a flu jab on Saturday, but if the COVID centre wants to give me that on Friday, I'm quite happy to have it then instead
