I love Briar, though I don't have the technical knoledge to compare it to simplex, tox or simmilar alternatives
Briar both parties have to be online since there are no servers. it's pure peer to peer
Yes, that one I know, though my concerns are about the code and the implementation, the tradeoff made by each. I like that with briar I can use it in a place where I don't have internet though I need to be near, but it is designed for such a scenario afaik, like a protest or something like that But SimoleX is just perfect UI and UX, also they seem to be legit 😬

Yeah Molly is cool. It's still using Signal's servers though so the issues of centralization and numbers exist
Molly was working on creating their own servers and giving others the ability to host their own iirc Would be pretty cool if that was ever achieved. Not sure what ever happened with that...
But then would you be able to communicate with Signal user on the official server? I think they remove federation a long time ago, not sure of they are open to it again now.
Maybe you are right. I'm not sure of the details. I just remember reading about it a year or two ago and nothing since then. Similar to the Monero wallet integration. Nothing ever came of it
