I understand your pov, but lately I have been fond of the thought of "making long-format content great again". I also love text as a design element. 

 Text is the greatest technology that’s ever invented. Jokes aside, why do you like text as a design element? 

 Idk, maybe because text is a good companion to empty space to balance visual elements, but it is also informative.
Btw, typography is sexy.
