Another important point. nostr:nevent1qqsdl3ktkq2s983le786xeylgh2xltz4nuj3kp2tadpcmnhw7eqmducpzdmhxue69uhhwmm59e6hg7r09ehkuef0cwuat0
def something needs to be addressed client side, showing a huge warning when something has been edited. Still, I think that the best simple way to edit something on nostr should be a replace-this-note-with-that like amethyst does, nothing more complex than that.
i think there should be two options: 1. show old version and links at the bottom of it to reveal updated versions 2. show newest version and links at the bottom of it to reveal outdated versions let user choose which default, and when the link is clicked, they can see all versions
really bad take. because this implies desire to have immutable thing. but nostr doesnt provide such thing. you cant rely on on relays not lying to you. i mean how many clients verify signatures. and even if they did, relays can also NOT SHOW you some stuff. not even lying per se. they can just not show edits
My 2 cents on this is that I while agree for immutability in the context of public/social messages, I also feel it would be a drawback for private messaging. Nowadays even Whatsapp managed to have editable messages.
As I say in my article I don't think it is a problem to have edits in private messages and most other kinds. It's mostly kind:1 that must be protected at all costs.
