I am not opposed to the accumulation of knowledge, the refinement of wisdom or the application of intellect in any way. Those are good things, and for a couple thousand years or so there was no distinction made between the study of the world and the study of the word. 

But post modernism changed that attitude, to the detriment of society (in my opinion).

Of course we need scholars of Greek, Hebrew, Latin, Aramaic, etc.
