I don't think Nostr is bigger, honestly, but I think the move still needs to happen.
ActivityPub tech is outdated. There are security vulns every 5 minutes. Servers getting hacked and DMs getting leaked.
Meanwhile all the shitlibs are moving off Mastodon to Bluesky like cattle.
Ditto is still a little buggy compared to Rebased, and missing some important features. But it has the most important feature of all: portability. You can sign into any Ditto server with the same key. You can "nuke and remake" your server without issues, or even without losing any posts. On Nostr it's like every user is running their own server for free.
You have one responsibility: don't lose your key. As long as you do that, you have the same level of freedom on Nostr as if you're running your own server on ActivityPub. It also means attackers can't leak the DMs of a whole server at once, they can only target attacks at individual users. So you have control over your own privacy (and responsibility) by keeping your key safe.
It will never be possible to change your username on ActivityPub, but it's baked into the initial design of Nostr. So I am not sure I will ever be able to even "fix" the bridge going the other way, even though from my side it's like I never left.

Yes, true. We need a fedi exodus to happen to Nostr. Otherwise, it feels like a waste of time. In the end, we know that user experience matters, That's why bsky and main stream social media apps are thriving. Normies don't care about privacy or portability unfortunately.
I think the move to "decentralized" alternatives shows that normies do care, but they're too retarded to understand the differences between them yet. Bluesky is comfy for them for now, but held together by the same centralized forces that will inevitably fail. We need to drill people on why portability actually fixes it.
I'll use NOSTR if I can keep my George W Bush PleromaFE wallpaper.
