Most people don't want freedom, they just want a better cell.  

 I honestly feel if some spaces do this and are open about doing whatever they do and people are well informed and have choices, that’s fine. If the timeline of the oppression of certain groups ie people of different races, genders and sexualities other than cis white straight men really exists, then it makes sense! If people cannot comprehend the context of oppression and all the crap that goes with it, it’s good for people to have certain spaces where they aren’t harassed and made to feel bad because of their identity. So many people outspoken on these things have never really had to deal with feeling extremely unsafe, through behaviour online or in the real world, cos of their identity eg just if they’re a woman. I think control to any extreme is bad but the basic blatant bigotry that people in those groups face on a pretty much day to day basis anyway can’t be prevented by the self control of others NOT to inflict it eg using racial slurs, sexual or physical assault. Cultural conditioning of allowing certain language/behaviours towards certain people CAN actually lead to worse behaviours inflicted in those people, and becoming ‘usual’. It’s good to have spaces that are free from censorship of course because we really don’t know what the fuck kind of censorship could be coming next, as nobody seems to have any common sense anymore. But I’d hate for nostr to become a place aligned in thought with people who just want to be transphobic etc. I feel that’s just exhibiting a completely closed minded lack of self control and taking advantage of an otherwise amazing platform to do real good. Let people have their spaces as long as platforms are open and inform about their intentions.
