Hello world https://i.nostr.build/6oRC9YiMB6Jozkot.jpg #mesh #meshtastic
I really need to get into this #meshtastic game. Those look awesome
Have you seen this? :/ nostr:note12yq7kk9lkk5mamtr8hhyzqjd2s6msu4ly043hml89e6j9wmc0w9qtrzmuw
as a licensed amateur radio operator, I do love #meshtastic
Cool! How’s it work?
It broadcasts messages over a P2P network where messages can hop from node to node.
Traveling by radio waves? Sorry, I’m a dumbass with this kinda stuff.
Yes
Whoa. So does one buy a subscription or a license or something, or does the device just “work”?
No license required. Everything is a bit hobbyist oriented so things can be a bit clunky, but it just works. For certain power levels, a license is needed, but that's not necessary for general usage.
Are you basically telling me that I’ll be able to have free radio-transmitted internet after I buy that device and tinker a while to set it up?
No, no Internet. It's just messaging. Reticulum or Athena would be what you'd likely want to research if you're into P2P radio data.
Oh I see. Thank you. I’m always into tinkering so this could be something I might mess around with when fishing season ends. Lol.
What am i looking at?
Meshtastic nodes that I put together for ready to use devices. These are capable of P2P encrypted messages without cell towers across up to 3 miles in urban environments.
Like a walkie for messages? 😅
What do i need to make those?

Sick! Thanks man
Which parts did you use? And did you have to solder or use micro screwdriver? Sorry for all the questions 😅 this is some nice shit
Ok. Didn't see the cart 😅 thanks man
Tough lessons here: These devices work quite well, but can't overpower topology issues. It's just not going to bounce off the ionosphere :/ Line of sight is really challenging to achieve in a flat area. With an enthusiastic community, we can continue to work on making a denser #mesh but will need some relationships built to get some rooftop installations. nostr:nevent1qqsq06t5rtmy8wucdy9sxmjuxa3e4pcd7r3nj52ypefu4xv2fpe488gpzdmhxue69uhk7enxvd5xz6tw9ec82c30qgsrjxqeute0zwusetrjp9qeadt5aa7q686wsxr8lsjvg73uuh52yjqrqsqqqqqp4thsry
