The prospect of this unites the right in a(n) (extreme) right block, which swings things to the right?

a possible hypothesis and a possible outcome of this rapidly changing party spectrum in the European states. however, you can see where right-wing parties are in government, as in Italy, that they radically deviate from their program for whatever reason (corruption, blackmail??)
Simply a #realitycheck ? Fulminating against the way things are is easy but actually doing something about it is often more difficult than it seems at first sight.
