I can't think of a single example of something that started centralized and "decentralized eventually". nostr:nevent1qqsx2k0sjanm648c5hk8g8up4s6z5g5gu4zu9kn2x2l7husy0rg96zgpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7q3qxtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsxpqqqqqqzzdlp6w
Bitcoin? 😂
Correct although it had a really good decentralized plan laid out. Kinda feel this is a technicality
Having a small number of total participants is different from centralization. I see centralization more as asymmetric control.
Lack of incentives to run a node in the case of nostr sadly. We need a token 😆 But seriously as long as we can't find a way to integrate Bitcoin incentives for nostr relays it will centralized overtime.
Yeah.... We always knew that the only advantage of nostr is that it's an open protocol for social apps which was lacking. It's in this field that censorship behaviors of our overlords are the strongest, so I think it's a net positive and a good experiment which could give birth to something better with incremental improvements, maybe, if really needed one day... But it suffers the same flaws that any network without well defined incentives to run a node...
Lots of examples of the reverse though. Centralization is always the biggest danger.
well the South seceded from the Union - that went well Ukraine declared independence from Russia - that also went well Yeah i guess it doesn't really work does it ? if you're going to compromise on principle before you're even up and running why bother in the first place ? no shortage of compromised platforms out there.
