My last few days as macOS user have begun… Can’t wait 🔥 https://image.nostr.build/d792969180d33ef1fe2606bfaa0adef4c6903c9382846d55e21568e939373eb5.jpg
I wish I had an excuse to buy a Framework
I think it’s fairly easy to reason about :D

Nach so vielen Jahren dann doch endlich der Abgang von Apple? 🤗
 What’s framework
 A modular and repairable laptop
 Dang 1400 with diy parts
Yep, but compared to Apple it’s cheap af. I got a MacBook Pro with a broken “A” key… repair costs: 1800$

Because the keyboard is soldered onto the mainboard.

With framework you can repair / replace pretty much any part for cheap. And once they release a new version, you can upgrade the mainboard and use the old one inside a 3d printed chassis as a home server
 That’s awesome 👏
Yes. I chose the “international” keyboard with the “super” instead of the Windows logo.
Awesome! I did too! Just spotted your skin. It’s dbrand right?
It is. I have another from them on my (former) MacBook Air. Excellent quality. Highly recommend.
 $600 for 4tb nvme? lolllll
You can source RAM and storage yourself. I did
 Cool concept!
Got mine a few weeks ago and am super happy with it. What OS are you going for?
Awesome! 13 or 16? I think I’ll take it easy first and go for Ubuntu
looking forward to hearing how the transition goes
 Me too lmao
I'm curious: did you consider using used ThinkPads? Afaik you can also pretty much replace all important parts, and works great with Linux.

(and >50% cheaper)
I prefer the Framework, for me build quality, screen, and repairability are a lot better
I did, but the idea that the Logic Board can be replaced once you want to upgrade and that the old one can be run as better RPi made me go for the framework.
 Logic Board = mainboard, right?

I like the concept, and those plug&play expansion cards looks also neat. So far I have been always pimping old laptops (which I have plenty; my 10+ year old Acer i5, 16GB RAM is running a perfectly fine Start9OS with bitcoincore, monero, Liquid & CLN nodes on a 4GB SSD) but yeah eventually you run out of options once you hit the CPU or motherboard-RAM limits.

Thanks for sharing. Had never heard of https://frame.work before
Good choice! I got mine 5 months ago. By far the best laptop I owned, after plenty of MacBooks and Thinkpads, and great Linux support as well. Which distro are you going to run?
Awesome! Cant wait to finally try it. I was thinking about starting with Ubuntu
Those swappable ports are cool. It'd be convenient as hell to swap an HDMI for an extra USB.

If you need a distro, PopOS from System76 is nice. They have a similar mentality about hardware repair/upgrade, too.
 What model did you get?
 The low end AMD 13”
Welcome, sir. Got my 13” AMD about 3 weeks ago. So far, so good. A few BIOS glitches with wake from hibernation, but a solid device.

 Let’s try that again.
