History knowers: Can anyone cite precedents where a politician called for civilians to assassinate a military leader? “Will no one rid me of this turbulent general?” This Trump/Milley situation seems buck wild to me. In a historical sense, is it? 

 @4c5b260f In most cases it would be a dangerous thing to do, for the obvious reason that the military leader has command of the military.

If you're  planning a coup, you need the military onside otherwise they will simply wipe you out.
