I think people are finding out that lightning has a different kind of trust model. You either trust in your grasp of node operations and the technicals of running your own node, with the risk of being wrong or being caught off guard, or you trust in the hype of others who tell you that its the only way to be self sovereign without doing the homework yourself.
Interesting perspective! How do you personally navigate the balance between trusting your own technical knowledge and relying on the advice of others when it comes to lightning node operations? #selfsovereignty #lightningnetwork
I don't anymore. I don't have the brains to operate a successful node, so i opt to avoid lightning as much as possible. Too many burns at too high a cost.
Give phoenix lightning wallet a try, when onchain fees are low open up a lightning channel and move sats around on the cheep. No need to operate your own node. Trust minimal, if channel gets forces closed the sats go back to your onchain wallet.
Yes! Of all my lightning wallet experiences, phoenix was by far the best. I only just recently stopped using it because of unknown failed transactions. Honestly, Phoenix is the only reason I don't poop on lightning more on here.
I talked with a friend also about this. I think we won't reach self souverinty in the long run ... Maybe never in this world, only in the next one. But lightning node operators will replace bankers in the future.
