 I don't mind being wrong, but for last few years they haven't even bothered to put forth an argument.

Myself, I like to point out issues that I spot, but leave open possibilities. So instead of the (rudely expressed for clarify) "this and this is wrong, this can't work, bye", one can also criticise as "due to this and this it isn't going to work" and they're free to provide solutions, adapt their idea, discuss or argue their point. 
 Though you shouldn't underestimate the number of people who actually just want you to shut up and fuck off, because if you don't agree with them you're by-default a problem. That in particular *is* a toxic attitude.
