@d591b4ac @74420995 I'd asked Bill Binney at a Snowden panel about a similar phenomenon - I'd mentioned that I'd started to lose my understanding of the left when Feinstein voted for the Iraq War and Pelosi forced democratic support of the Patriot Act, and I asked why these folks who allegedly had radically different beliefs were doing this - were they owned?
And he chuckled and just said something about how actually, he thought they just liked power.
I think about that a lot.
@74420995 @c95f59dc We need more jimmy Carters more Senator Warrens more Rep Porters etc
@d591b4ac @74420995 Honestly, and this is not exaggeration, I'd still be American if there were.
@74420995 @c95f59dc it’s not, the house of reps can basically force a judge out of being able to hear cases forcing case loads to pile up or they would have to voluntarily leave the position.
They don’t have the votes to convict in the senate but they can refuse to hear the case freezing the process.
In the case of the Supreme Court it would basically take the liberal justice out of the mix
@74420995 @c95f59dc those who think they wouldn’t do it don’t know robin vos nor the WisGOP
@d591b4ac @74420995 No, I believe it - the Wisconsin of my teen years is a very very different place now because of these kinds of shenanigans, and that's only seeing it from afar.
@74420995 @c95f59dc it’s the combination of project redmap the Dems refusing to fight it, and the spread of the right wing media through right wing radio then fox & FB
