Assuming that these work reliably, this might be a useful opt-in suggestion feed for new folks onboarding to nostr. By bringing in feeds of interest to nostr, the need to go outside nostr is potentially reduced.

 mixed feelings about that idea

while it's good to have more content, one-way accounts (i.e. they don't reply/engage) are typically very uninteresting.

people have already figured out a way to tune-in to the news/content they care about that is exogenous to nostr -- copying in to nostr with no value-add is probably worse, but certainly not a 10x better that can drive change in people's behavior
this is not to say there's no value on rss/atom data imports -- just that, by themselves, it doesn't add any value to people not already heavily nostr-pilled.
 This is true.

How might nostr convert such feeds from one way to nostriches being able to interact with the author, and/or people outside nostr?
I think there is a reasonable framing of nostr as the glue to unify all public messages. I would get more value from nostr if I could read more of what I want with it even if those who create such messages are not yet on nostr natively.
yeah, 100% -- it's a value-add for people who are already in nostr, but people not in nostr won't come to nostr just because they can *also* access some content that is available where they already inhabit

e.g. a hacker news user won't flock to nostr because hacker news content is on nostr

but for someone that is already in nostr, having hacker-news-curated content here might be useful
also, it gives people like us who *are on nostr* more content that we can discuss here
 agreed, content and context 👍
Agree. Users can make their own choices and create these feeds. Suggesting feeds what will offer zero engagement gives the impression of a ghost town.

What would be nice though is an in-app way to do this though. You could call it your personal news reader. Burn some feeds, add the npub to a list, add the list to a feed that is editable for additions and deletions. If the UX is done nicely, similar to Primal DVM marketplace, then it could be beneficial.
Pick one of the 10+ Hacker News feeds and see how it destroys your timeline. 🤣

The challenge with RSS driven feeds is that Nostr lacks algorithms to moderate the influx of content.

I personally get a lot of value out of the Hacker News RSS but if I leave it on, I completely disengage from the rest of Nostr.

Less prolific rss feeds might be ok. But it comes down to the goal of the client / app. Are you creating a content consumption app or a social networking app?

RSS feeds can help the 9% of the traditional social media group that curates content for others so they don’t have to go externally to find content to share. But I’m not sure what they do for everyone else.
the best guide, you can have lists https://stacker.news/items/607960
