@8d1af2ae @62a04c04 Newsom seems to take personal offense at DeSantis' politics. He's on a mission to turn Florida Blue and terminate DeSantis' ideology.

He's has been directing money at Florida for some time. While a presidential run is an obvious motive, Newsom has a particular talent for building "deep state" coalitions. I don't know what his play is but I don't think the main action will be on the stage. 

 @e9e6ac86 @62a04c04 Newsom cannot turn Florida blue without the Floridians. And I don't know that they will actually care about a debate between the two of them. It can't hurt DeSantis any more than he already hurts himself, but Newsom may not come out well, in the sense that Floridians may not fall his way. 

 @8d1af2ae @62a04c04 Yes, and Newsom's not running in Florida, and it looks like he won't run for POTUS for at least another four years.

So I'm going to be looking for the sideshow: who will he be fundraising for afterward? What picketline or (more likely) business association or ethnic communities will he show up at? 

 @e9e6ac86 @62a04c04 They don't know Florida. This will be pointless. They chose a former republican governor to run on the democratic ticket against DeSantis....Florida is not a normal place.
