Little things like an email notification about new content pulls people back into the platform. The book "hooked" describes these as external triggers - sometimes necessary to help form new habits (such as using your product). What are nostr's external triggers? When a person posts and leaves, how do we get them to come back? How do we let them know someone replied? (without them having the habit of checking)? https://i.nostr.build/7Ge29.png
Doesn't Damus and Amethyst already send mobile notifications?
Probably. I don't know since I turn them off lol. This note is not meant to target any specific client, but the entire space in general - to think about the various mechanisms we could implement to trigger these loops. As you know, Nostr is not all notes ;)
I have have minimal to no notifications but I come on Nostr almost everyday. Yes notifications “work” but are just going to copy most of legacy social media when building?
You have a community you feel you belong to so it's easier for you to come back to see what your community is up to. This is usually not the case for anyone trying something new for the first time. If they come here and all they see is bitcoin talk, they may never come back. But if they comment, and see some other replies or some recommended content they may like, that may get them to come back. The existing legacy social media features exist for a reason.
hi, here is a notification from me
Notifications on Android from Primal would be awesome, and I hope they are on the to do list.
It's not external but may encourage time poor users ...On the app Home Page, - extend **Search** function to include eg: *tags, topic/subject, state/province, country ....* If they know they can find the info quickly .... Will assist those with specific interest areas and those not using notifications :)
