"People: Are they really worth it?"
 @b541bfe5 See, we can get their attention if we change that headline to "Is curing CUSTOMERS a sustainable business model? Yes."

Eventually when all your customers are dead your business model kinda takes care of itself, but your average VC, executive or board member doesn't care because they'll have cashed out to live on a beach somewhere.
 It's much more profitable to keep people dependent on expensive drugs and treatments until they are bankrupt. Then they can die ASAP for all they care. It's like built-in obsolescence.

 @b541bfe5
Of course not
That's why, unless the disease kills (e.g. cancer), all the pharmaceutical companies make "once a day" pills that treat the symptoms, not the disease
We have pills to reduce cholesterol, blood pressure, glucose levels, etc., but I don't think anyone is even working on a pill that you take once and your blood pressure will forever be lower by one point, or whatever

There has been a rumor in one form or another for decades that scientists found a cure for cancer, but it has been suppressed because of the financial impact it would have on drug companies and on scientific research. My argument is: what researcher would agree to keep this a secret? And wouldn't everyone else in on the research have to be dead to keep that secret?
 @b541bfe5 Don't do it, Canadians! We did it, and we are heartily sorry!
 @b541bfe5 you can't lose profit if you are dead amirite?
 @b541bfe5 Remember when the idea of medical companies suppressing cures to diseases in order to profit from long term treatment was just an idea from a sci-fi movie about a dystopian future where a data runner who need a dolphin to hack the info in his head? Good times

Saying "the quiet part out loud", but otherwise honest.

Please tell me this is from The Onion
 @b541bfe5 Meaning #GoldmanSachs openly is calling for making our health a subscription service that ends with death. #CapitalismIsADeathCult
