Most important, buy self-help curses is the most bearish signal of success-expectation for people. Very hard to become successfull without doing the hard work of send a go-fuck-yourself to people who want to tell you what to do, course sellers in particular.
How many people do you know, who spend money on self help courses and follow through? I know many and they are all above average successful.
I frankly know only two people from different social and age extraction that do this, and they are just a bit above average in terms of success... in the end to think to spend money on something like that you need to have money to spend, so need to be at least a bit succesful, for merits or luck. I think the causality is the reverse of what someone would think: they are a bit succesful, want to be more succesful and are not so indipendent and not so smart; so they ended pay someone to talk banalities that for them probably arent banalities. I would be curious to observe in the long term if they still will have success and how the courses will incide. My bet is that if they will continue take decisions with the same algorithm they used to decide to buy the courses, they probably will not continue to be so succesfull in the long run...
I add that obviously there are different cases, some gurus are so trash and most courses are scams for rich people, but I'm sure some of them could be useful. My critics is general about the industry that proliferated and my personal experience about it, in theory there's nothing more sane than pay some virtuous and good human to teach and explain you some new perspective about life.

Not true. I personally know several millionaires that take self help trainings. They never stop learning, thats the attitude that got them there in the first place.
We are in agreement that one important quality is the attitude of always learning which is what I alluded to with reading, investing in oneself, etc. I think this is where defining terms is helpful. How are you defining self help? And how do you define success?

I hate to disagree with you self help has helped me a lot and I've been able to achieve the things I have because someone helped me, taught me and guided me through books and stuffs like that a lot of people aren't privilege to be born into an educated society and so they have to struggle a few bad eggs doesn't mean the whole bunch is bad I don't like when people generalize stuff I've also empowered over 300 people who are successful as well so not everything is about money, purpose is greater than money
Unfortunately, most Bitcoin Maxis act like they reached the end of the rabbit hole. That's like realizing you are still a child and then thinking that alone makes you an adult. Bitcoin taken seriously IS self development. So many immature plebs among us, but the Mandible times will force them to open their minds.
Stay humble, Matt! Your statement is too general. There are scams, but also many amazing courses etc that contain lifechanging elements from effective psychotherapies. The principles I learned from 'self help', helped me to immediately recognize Bitcoin apart from shitcoins on first contact. My 'self help' friends are the smartest and most openminded people towards Bitcoin and freedomtech. Self help at its healthy core is self responsibility. Undernuanced statements like that, repell smart people and put an ignorant on your otherwise genius and human being. I love you.
