 @43d7c4ea there is more than enough Brown field sites to build houses... but developers don't want to build 4 bed detached houses on a former factory.... rather build on rural flood planes while they can

It would be even better if they stopped building detached houses altogether - the town-house (or terrace) is more energy & space efficient... but of course, developers' sales teams think a 'detached' home is an easier sell!

When you have had antisocial neighbours that you can hear through the walls morning noon and night that make your life a misery to the point of you want to take an axe to them or have a nervous breakdown, you can't really appreciate a detached house.

terraced houses in London for over 30 years & let me tell you the disruptive noise in a detached house but in a rural/farming area is a lot worse (if only at certain times)... and the the smell(s)...

I grew up in Somerset and the smell of the country only bothers townies.
