I agree, but getting more followers is nice if done naturally. By posting content people value, you will get better interaction on your posts. Done this way followers can be a nice metric on the quality of your posts. 'Hey cool 100 followers' is about as far as I will go concerning followers. The scammy stuff is cringey. I don't get it. What do you get from a bunch of followers that followed or reposted for sats.

There is no contradiction because engagement goes up with follower count. There is no algo here, and most people don't boost, so if someone isn't following you, they literally cannot see anything you write.
