I was fairly surprised to see these kind of takes on this platform. It’s incredibly disheartening to see proclaimed freedom focused individuals joking about a government extrajudicially killing people. Setting aside the whole extrajudicial killing portion/ghoulishly laughing at the loss of life; early reports indicate that out of the hundreds injured, at least one child was killed. To that point, even if somehow you’re okay with the whole extrajudicial killing aspect, it’s been reported that some of these pagers were detonated while targets were in heavily populated civilian areas (markets, while driving, etc.) which would obviously lead to innocent individuals being killed or injured. Of note, one of those reportedly injured was an Iranian ambassador. So, if you’re not a neocon and still hold out hope for deescalation and world peace, this ain’t it.
The world is an insane and fucked up place. Thankfully we have humor to help offset the pain.
