The 1992 edition of the #Catechism of the #Catholic Church (pp. 2267) said: If bloodless means are sufficient to defend human lives against an aggressor and to protect public order and the safety of persons, public authority should limit itself to such means, because they better correspond to the concrete conditions of the common good and are more in conformity to the dignity of the human person. This made the capital punishment commandments in the Bible more like suggestions. Then in 2018 we got this revision: Consequently, the Church teaches, in the light of the Gospel, that “the death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person,” and she works with determination for its abolition worldwide. That makes capital punishment commandments of none effect. Naturally, Trump Catholics think #Pope #Francis is the devil.
Are you saying that it is inadmissible? If you are, then you are wrong because the premise of the change in the Catechism is wrong. For some crimes the death penalty is what is owed for true justice. Justice for not only the victims, but owed also to society as a whole. It is also just to the person who is being executed because they have the best chance to save their soul.
