GM! Shill me #nostr, please. I don’t seem to grasp the impact of nostr. Please help me understand it better.
You got zapped ! Hopefully it will help you on your path to discovery.
zapped

you own your data (contact list, posts, profile, etc). This is pretty unique, in every other online app the company owns your data and they are just letting you access it until they say you can’t. your data is portable, it can be stored on your devices and copied to many relays. This effectively makes your online presence unbannable and undeplatformable you are not just cattle for big tech to sell ads to. It’s borderless. the protocol integrates the native money of the internet (sats via nostr #zaps) so you can freely transfer value to anyone in the world if you like their post. Its bridged to other protocols like activitypub so its not isolated to just nostr weirdos There are 10+ quality clients to choose from if you don’t like the one you first tried. No other social media protocol has this level of client development.
FYI the native money of the Internet is fiat. Literally every online shop from Amazon to DoorDash to AliExpress takes fiat and none take Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is native Internet money, coded in C++ and launched on the Internet Jan 3, 2009. How was fiat coded and launched on the Internet?
I think it started in 1995 (?) when SSL was invented so we could use credit cards online safely. I think Amazon was founded around that time too.
SSL is not native Internet money. “SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is a standard security technology that encrypts data sent between a website and a browser or between two servers. It provides a secure channel between two machines or devices operating over the internet or an internal network, preventing hackers from seeing or stealing any information transferred, including personal or financial data.” - https://www.digicert.com/what-is-ssl-tls-and-https Credit cards are also not native Internet money. #Bitcoin *is* native Internet money. The Bitcoin Timechain only exists on the Internet. Andreas M. Antonopoulos goes further, with his book titles “The Internet of Money” - https://aantonop.com/books/iom/
Also your friend below didn't answer my questions maybe you could step in and do it in his place? nostr:note1r0fgd862ykhzu8qtpvqsyxge8fwlegdnt6uwx45hyvwftj3s5s7spux5ad
Data cannot be owned. Information is non-scarce, and thus private property is not necessary.
Jeder kommt zu nostr dann, wenn er es braucht.
You are not a slave here. Nobody can rugpull you, if you know what you're doing. All the best people are here. If you share stuff that others appreciate your shitposts will pay for lunch.
You can't buy food for Bitcoin anywhere. Being zapped buys nothing at all whatsoever.
things I bought in the past two weeks with my zaps directly from my nostr client: * physical therapy session * multiple breakfasts * fruit pouch for my baby * meds for my wife * external display * coffees (and not for the meme) maybe it was all just a dream 😂
That’s cool!
“That feeling when your 9-yr old daughter picks up the brunch check with her own @ZEUS #Bitcoin Lightning wallet using sats she earned over the weekend at @bitcoinatlantis (Mar 1-3, 2024) Madeira, Portugal.” - @Nathan Day https://twitter.com/nathan_day/status/1765087742499909952?s=20
Oooh. Is nathan_day your Twitter account? What's the shop? How much did it cost? Are the prices stable? Does the shop pay their suppliers in Bitcoin?
All of your questions for Nathan should be directed to @Nathan Day 🙂 Also, how are you earning #Bitcoin? The circular Bitcoin economy starts with you and me and Nathan and his daughter and on and on…
I'm in a circular fiat economy just fine thanks.
You can be involved in a circular #Bitcoin economy by offering your services or products for sale in #Bitcoin. What are your products or services?
Well akshuallay, if you enter your private keys into fifteen different clients like most nostr users, you can very well be rugged.
How do you use different clients then? Do you recommend to use different keys for each client?
That 'know what your doing here', yes! I almost ,on Iris, put my private key in something else to try make my profile there, I thought, some N blabla nib For I understand fukwhat about the computer language. Still debating inside me if I stay anonymous here, And how much I should share, like I just did , Saying I know little about computers..hmmm Or maybe I do know everything about computers.. I am Satoshi 😄 So I'm asking Satoshi to 'please hold my hand in this vague tech land' while I'll hodl and go for a walk in nature.
Any recommendations on basic do‘s and dont‘s?
because it feels good. like the early internet again
Nostr doesn't compete with social, it is a protocol layer to develop ANYTHING including social. Here are some beneath the surface features: 1. Permissionless protocol for bitcoin payment addressing using nostr wallet connect. Imagine using Venmo to send payments to a user or business on Facebook, PayPal, YouTube, or TikTok. Check out blogs getalby.com and mutinywallet.com for posts on implementation. 2. Self hosted Oauth-like protocol using nsecbunker. 3. Microservices using Data Vending Machines: language translation, TTS, Generative AI, post scheduling with Shipyard, and infinite space to develop more. Basically microapps can be added by developers to their apps (without permission) to enhance user experience. Fee or free per use built in. 4. There is much more but as a decentralized protocol, it takes effort to find it.
No algorithms. No ads. You control what you see. You control who you follow. One login for many different applications. 100% monetization from day one.
And, one day later, are you convinced?
Trying to understand it better. Yesterday’s responses were a good start
