On a level it’s like purchasing access to lucrative insider (government) jobs where dependency (debt and fear) and loyalty (ignorance and social pressure) are far more valuable than truth and reality. 

They know someone who is >$100k in debt can’t afford to fall out of the good graces of the only cabal who is willing and able to hire them for their compliance
