I once heard an astrophysicist explain why we haven't seen aliens.
He suggested three possible reasons:
First, aliens may not exist;
Second, intergalactic travel could be too difficult, and no civilization has evolved enough for it;
Third, the most frightening possibility is that they are all hiding from each other or from someone even more dangerous, and any exposed alien civilization gets destroyed.
Highly recommend "The Three Body Problem" series. "The Dark Forest" is such an interesting and terrifying cosmological sociology thought experiment.

I had never actually heard of dark forest theory until I read the three-body problem. Such a good series.
The most convenient and preferred rationale I’ve wrapped my head around is a variation of two. The universe is so big and sprinting apart from itself so quickly the distance is too much to close.
The Mathematical Universe by Max Tegmark is a phenomenal mind expanding book on the topic.

He forgot to mention that we may be their food farm and they're just waiting until harvest day.

Or we are a prison planet for naughty spirits from other planets, and we keep getting reincarnated until we straighten up on our own.

Fourth. *We* are the #aliens, look at what we have wrought on earth. You can see where we are and have been and where we are now. The #Jinn (singular 'jinni' - "Genie") were here first, are here but we can't see them but they can see us, and our biological body is simply a space suit that allows us to breathe this air and keep our feet on the ground by gravity. This is not new: we have a soul and body and the spirit world is true.
