 1 dollar : 1000 sats is a big mile stone because people like round numbers. It's easier to think of as an exchange rate.

 Easier calculations means people who are bad at math have better information. That lowers the cost of informed decision making, which lowers transaction costs, which breeds efficient markets and therefore exchanges of title to those who need it most. Ergo, 1000 sats per dollar is a price point at which a lot of people will discover Bitcoin is for them, and snatch it up! 
 Incidently this is another reason why prices tend to stick to numbers like $69,420 (when people realize Neo truly is The One) and $88K. 
 it should have been the other way around though!

 I'm more of a 10 sats is 1 dollar guy myself. 2024 dollars anyway.
