I am trying out Android about once a year, and this time I saw some improvements in usability, but I would still rate it 7/10. The initial experience of setting it up and a barrage of questions that I am 100% sure will confuse any non-tech person and just open all their data for Google to do what they want with it. Say what you want about Apple and its walled garden, Android is too customizable with too many options and bad default options for the user’s privacy and security. And no, I do not expect your non-tech granny to screw around with custom OS for the device 🫡
Graphene and LineageOS have fewer questions than factory/carrier Android.

Because they're not run by crooks!
Read the last sentence that I wrote to specifically address your comment
Valid, but that's why they have us :)

And there are online stores where Granny could buy a phone pre-installed, if only she knew what it was.
I give iPhone to my granny, I don’t have time to run tech support 😂😂😂
I'm SO happy I switched to GrapheneOS. It's simply awesome.

That said, there is a techie-side to it, I don't think the general normie can pull it off.
Sir, Google buys all the Apple data they want with the $25B/yr default search purchase.

Or do you really think 25b is just to set Google as default?
Well, if they grab the data they do so without the consent, at which point none of that matters and any garden is the same shit. Now we are back to usability, then iPhone wins again 😂🫡
70% marketshare globally says otherwise :)
Price competitiveness, that’s all. iPhone is not cheap, Android is and available everywhere by many companies 🫡
I am just saying that your comment about how the customizations and lack of usability will confuse granny is false. Like you said, the poor (and thus less educated) people are using Android.
That means that most of them go with defaults, and that is the only thing I claimed. Defaults are wide open, and all data goes to the mothership. Usability is subjective, so it is my opinion based on myself and my family experience. 🫡
Yep, 95% of people never change any setting, neither on iOS or Android. Even on Nostr, 95% of people don't change their default Amethyst settings.
I have a foldable Android and have had for 2 years

in 5 years Apple will invent this and everybody will think that they did
Globally? Android's market share is high in countries like China where people earn $300 a month. That doesn't mean it's good it means it's for poor people.

Or what's that shithole country that nostr:nprofile1qqsw4v882mfjhq9u63j08kzyhqzqxqc8tgf740p4nxnk9jdv02u37ncpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9uju6mpd4czuumfw3jsz9nhwden5te0wfjkccte9ec8y6tdv9kzumn9wsq3yamnwvaz7tmsw4e8qmr9wpskwtn9wvql3tqm is from again I bet they all use Android and are smelly too.
 > Or do you really think 25b is just to set Google as default?

That's what I thought? Yes?
Leave my Android 🤖 self alone. There is only one I answer to. My mirror 🪞 reflection. Everyone else can kindly … you know 🫂
