Norway: Bitcoin Mining Facility Shutdown Leads to 20% Higher Energy Bills for Town Residents

Kryptovault's Bitcoin mining facility in Stokmarknes, Norway, recently closed, causing residents to face a 20% rise in electricity bills. The site was shut down because the Hadsel municipality didn't renew its operating permit, following ongoing noise complaints from locals.

 Id take 20% price hike over noise any day. It must have been significantly noise to warrant constant complaints. 

 20% is a lot, but maybe residents preferred to pay more for electricity than having to deal with the noise? I wonder if they knew beforehand that the cost would increase by that much. Were there no alternative to lowering the noise other than shutting it down?
