Ah sorry I didn't express that well. When I used Olas earlier I was seeing all my kind 1 image posts on my Olas profile, which I don't like as those images are usually related to the note and my expectation is to see them in a twitter-like app but not an instagram/flickr-like app. This is what Kind 20 is for, I think? Cheers.
Yeah, I think nostr:nprofile1qqs04xzt6ldm9qhs0ctw0t58kf4z57umjzmjg6jywu0seadwtqqc75sprfmhxue69uhhq7tjv9kkjepwve5kzar2v9nzucm0d5hsz9mhwden5te0wfjkccte9ec8y6tdv9kzumn9wshszynhwden5te0wp6hyurvv4cxzeewv4esdp32r9 is trying to integrate the old stuff from kind 1 into the new client and that doesn't work because the images are an accessory to the text and not the main thing on kind 1s.
Yeah, there’s a fine balance; solely using kind:20 is hard because literally there was not a single kind:20 in any of the relays I checked; going forward it’ll be easier once we populate some content in it. I still think there’s a place for getting kind:1 with images for the general feed (not on the profile) if the kind 1 is the root.
How do you even do that? Which filter returns only kind 1s with images? I did it a while back for our image feed, but all I saw was meaningless images without any context. That essentially was why we ended up using nip94 instead. But I will switch amethyst images to kind 20 to help kick this off.
Awesome to hear! I literally just get the kind:1s and filter out the ones that don’t have an image URL, excluding gifs since those tend to be lower quality. I think there’s more heuristics that could be used like amount of text, root vs reply, etc, but I think ideally more clients would use kind:20 when the focus is the picture, I just don’t think that’s going to happen. I might end up allowing the user to filter for this; let’s see how it plays out.
Definitely a fine balance. I've noticed quite a few UI designer types saying their preferred platform for sharing/seeing new work is X. Maybe because that type of design work requires threads + text to properly explain, maybe because twitter-like apps engender better discussion, maybe none of the above. But I'd have guessed Instagram was the go-to for visuals, and been wrong. So different strokes for different folks. Looking forward to the real launch and seeing how it develops.
Kind 1s I think would help fill it out since so many post include just an image with short text+tags. Same with videos but only include those playable in the client. Always would recommend user toggle in the top of the feed for the kind of content to see like Boost had for Reddit back in the day.
