One of the coolest things about the Virginia State Fair yesterday was the marine exhibit, which unfortunately I didn’t think to take any pictures of at all, probably because I was holding Sophia.

She got to pet a live horseshoe crab (and scream because I didn’t put her in the water with them 🤣) and see many other live marine animals from the Chesapeake Bay like blue and hermit crabs, pipefish, and spadefish.

I had no idea such exotic-looking fish lived nearby! There was even some kind of small fish that looked a little like a less-extravagant lionfish to me, with “walking” pectoral fins to walk across the bottom. I can’t believe I forgot what it was called; if anyone can remind me, I would appreciate it!

IDK what the official name is but we call those walking fish “sea robins.”
YES that is what they were called! I guess it’s an official enough name for the conservators running the exhibit.
I would zap you in thanks ⚡️ 🙏
I loved the pictures you took. Are they still open today?
Yeah! Yesterday was just the first day. They’re open through October 6. Check out the schedule, they have some special events!

Must take my daughter she will have lots of fun.
 Absolutely!! 😁
She rides horses, right? Supposedly the draft horse event takes place every day! I hope it doesn’t rain today so she can see it.
 She loves horses. 🐎
Sounds like fun.
Thank you 🙏
 Sounds like a great day
 Fun!!
