Democracy robs freedom of choice from minorities. Unalienable rights guarantee the rights of minorities and individuals. Unalienable rights are rights that cannot be taken away, not even by a 100% majority rule vote. Unalienable rights cannot be legislated away, they cannot be ruled away by any court, and government intstitutions cannot add qualifiers to them, or dilute them America is not a democracy. America is a Constitutional Republic, based on unalienable rights. The Constitution does not grant these rights, it explicitly tells the government that it cannot and shall not infringe on these rights.
